EACH OF OUR SUPPLIERS IS CHOSEN
WITH THE UTMOST ATTENTION TO THE CRAFTSMANSHIP THEY PRESERVE AND THE WORKING CONDITIONS IN THEIR WORKSHOPS. MOST OF THEM HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH US SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING OF ROUJE. HERE’S A BREAKDOWN OF OUR PRODUCTION COUNTRIES FOR THE FALL-WINTER 2024 SEASON:

our pieces in mesh, certain jersey pieces, as well as our jewelry, socks, and some of our
scrunchies, are produced in workshops in the Île-de-France region, all of which have been audited and visited. 

We produce our knitwear collection and the majority of our accessories (shoes, belts,
bags) there. We seek out Italian craftsmanship across the country: in Prato,
Naples, Verdello, Como, Milan, Veggia Del Casalgrande, Carpi, Quarrata... Our teams visited each of these locations this year, and most of our Italian workshops have been audited by independent organizations.

renowned for its expertise in footwear production, Portugal is where we create a large part of our shoe collection. It’s also home to our jerseys and our pieces with
a "flowing" drape – dresses, shirts, and more. We seek this craftsmanship in Porto, Guimarães, Taide, Gandarela, Gilmonde, Nogueira do Cravo… Our teams visited all of our Portuguese workshops this year, and 50% of them were also audited by independent organizations.

We produce a portion of our knitwear in Arjofin, in workshops audited by independent organizations, as well as some of our bags.

we’ve developed strong ties with a family-run factory in Romania, managed by women
for three generations. It’s from here that we source our “flowing” pieces (dresses, skirts) and garments with sleeves. Our workshops, located in Bucharest and Focsani, have been audited and are regularly visited.

We produce a portion of our fine knitwear in Sofia and Rousse, as well as our tailored
pieces, in audited workshops.

Our Tunisian production: the country
has developed true expertise in denim, and the majority of our denim collection
comes from Cherahil. We’ve managed to produce our dark and white jeans using the ECOWASH process, which reduces water consumption by 95%, electricity use by 40%, and the reliance on chemicals by 90%. 100% of our Tunisian workshops have been audited.

the embroidered cotton blouses and leather goods that complement our collections
come from India, specifically New Delhi and Howrah. We draw on traditional craftsmanship unique to India, including handwork. 95% of our Indian workshops have been audited by independent organizations.

we seek out a particular expertise in India, especially for silk and double-faced wool
fabrics that require hand-finishing. Each time, we work with carefully selected workshops, audited by independent organizations.

audited.) In 2024, 81% of our workshops were regularly visited and evaluated by
independent entities, separate from the brands and the production site. They assess various criteria: working conditions (hours, fair pay, absence of forced labor, etc.), safety (machines with protective gear to prevent accidents, accessible exits and fire extinguishers in case of emergency, etc.), and management (communication and information provided to employees). The workshops are thoroughly inspected, and a portion of the employees is interviewed to
collect anonymous testimonies. At Rouje, audits are certified by BSCI, SA 8000, ISO 9001, ICS, SEDEX, and SGQ. The reports are generally good, sometimes excellent. For each supplier, we request the audit reports be shared with us.

One final precaution adopted by the brand is the creation of our code of conduct, which 100% of our suppliers have signed and are committed to strictly adhering to, along with any individual or company working for them. In this code, which you can consult here (link), we require the guarantee of decent working conditions, hours, and wages, as well as compliance with environmental and health laws, whether local or European. If a violation of the code is identified, the supplier is given a specific timeframe to address the issue. Our goal is to engage in dialogue and work closely with each supplier, most of whom have been with Rouje since the very beginning. However, if a dispute cannot be resolved, Rouje commits to no longer working with a supplier that cannot guarantee proper working conditions. The visits conducted by the brand and independent audits help us ensure adherence to the code of conduct.
